Astronomers place their most sensitive instruments at the Sun–Earth L2 point — 1.5 million kilometers past Earth, where the planet shields them from interference and faint signals arrive intact. Webb, Gaia, Herschel, Planck. The signals worth catching are the quiet ones, and they only come through from a little further out.
